1. What Foresty Does

Foresty is an AI-powered Chrome extension that helps users:

  • Draft emails
  • Improve grammar and writing
  • Rewrite and simplify content
  • Generate subject lines
  • Create context-aware replies
  • Use smart autocomplete inside compose window

Foresty operates as a browser extension that integrates directly with the user interface of supported web-based email clients (Gmail and Outlook) in your browser.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Account Information

When you create an account or subscribe to a paid plan, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Authentication details
  • Subscription and billing information

Payments are processed securely through third-party payment providers. Foresty does not store full credit card information.

B. Email Content Access (Processing Only, No Storage)

Foresty accesses email content solely to provide the AI features you request. When you generate a draft, rewrite text, autocomplete a sentence, or create context-aware replies:

  • The extension temporarily reads the necessary text context from the active tab in your browser (under user-granted permissions).
  • This text is transmitted securely via HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to our AI infrastructure provider to generate the response.
  • No Storage of Email Content: Your email content is processed in-memory and is never saved, cached, or stored permanently in our databases.
  • No Model Training: None of the email content accessed by Foresty is used to train AI models (either by us or our AI providers).
  • No Selling of Data: We do not sell, rent, or monetize your email content in any way.

C. Usage & Technical Information

We may collect limited technical and usage information to manage plan limits and improve extension performance:

  • Browser type and extension version
  • Feature usage statistics (e.g., number of completions generated)
  • Word or character counts processed (solely to manage and enforce subscription credit limits)
  • Error logs and diagnostics (anonymized)

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and execute Foresty's AI writing features
  • Authenticate users and sync account credentials
  • Manage plan limits and deduct writing credits
  • Improve performance and reliability
  • Provide customer support

We do not use email content for advertisements or user profiling.

4. AI Processing

Our writing assistant features rely on secure third-party AI infrastructure (AWS Bedrock) to process your writing requests.

  • Prompts and email contexts are sent securely to AI models for real-time inference.
  • Data is processed temporarily and discarded immediately after the response is returned.
  • AI providers are contractually bound by privacy standards that prohibit them from retaining your data or using it for their own model training.

5. Browser Permissions

The Foresty Chrome Extension requests specific browser permissions to function:

  • Active Tab/Webpage Access: To read the draft or thread text inside your active web email client tab, allowing us to generate contextually relevant suggestions.
  • Storage: To save your authentication token locally in the extension.

These permissions are used strictly to deliver the core functionality of the extension and are never used for background tracking.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited operational information with:

  • Payment processors (e.g., Dodopayments) to handle billing
  • AI infrastructure providers (to execute your inference requests)
  • Cloud hosting providers

These providers only process data necessary to perform services on our behalf and are subject to strict privacy terms.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal account data, including the right to:

  • Delete your account and associated billing records

9. Chrome Extension Disclosures

A. Single Purpose

The single purpose of the Foresty extension is to serve as an AI-powered email writing assistant directly within the user's email client. It provides an inline interface to help users seamlessly compose professional emails, rewrite existing drafts, and automatically generate smart replies to incoming threads, ultimately saving time and improving email communication.

B. Permission Justifications

  • activeTab: Required to allow the extension's popup to interact with the currently active email tab. This ensures the assistant only activates and injects its UI when the user explicitly interacts with the extension while browsing their email client, maintaining strict user intent and privacy.
  • storage: Required to securely store the user's authentication token (foresty_token) locally on the device. This allows the user to remain seamlessly logged into the extension across browsing sessions without needing to repeatedly sign in every time they compose an email.
  • Host Permissions:
    • https://mail.google.com/*, https://outlook.live.com/*, https://outlook.office.com/*, https://outlook.office365.com/*: Required to inject the AI assistant's user interface natively into the Gmail and Outlook web clients, enabling the user to generate and edit text directly within their email compose boxes.
    • https://api.forestmail.me/*: Required for the extension's background worker to communicate securely with our backend servers to process AI text generation requests and authenticate the user.
    • https://welcome.forestmail.me/*: Required to synchronize authentication states between the extension and our web dashboard, ensuring a smooth login experience.

C. Remote Code Usage

Are we using remote code? No.
Justification: All extension logic, UI components, and scripts are completely bundled locally within the extension package during the build process. We do not use eval(), execute strings as code, or load external remote JavaScript files. We only communicate with external REST APIs to securely send and receive standard JSON data.
